2. Pass/fail grading
- Details will be emailed with weekly reports if requested, data collection and progress reports given each quarter. Behavior/academic progress can be emailed to parents whenever requested.
- New policy: No redos/corrections- students can improve grade by verbally discussing content/topics needing improvement face to face. Students can also do a replacement assignment
- My academic assistance is daily from 7:00-7:25 and Wednesdays 8:55-9:30 as well as Monday-Thursday after school. Student or parent my request an appointment verbally or via email.
- IEP meetings can be held before or after school
- I use a website/app called Classdojo where students earn/lose points based on positive and negative work completion and behavior choices in my classroom.
- They use classdojo points to practice self-direction: students use points to purchase snacks or small items ($10 or less) from amazon.com.
- This helps students work towards a goal, reflect on positive choices, practice responsibility, goal setting, and personal finance. Students must take the price of the item and determine how many points it is. $1.00 = 20 points. Students must then subtract that number from their total points.
- Strike 1: name on board, verbal warning and lose 10 points
- Strike 2: Lose another 10 points and email/phone call/text home and to school counselor. Counselor will be contacted if needed.
- Strike 3: Lose another 10 points and office referral
- Come to class on time/prepared
- Show respect and a can-do attitude to yourself, students and teacher
- Work/move quietly
- Pay attention with eyes and ears
- Follow directions from adults the first time asked
- Clean up materials/area
- Students are allowed to eat snack in my classroom, so you may bring snacks to store in my cupboard or bring in snacks daily in their book bag. I will also have snacks available for students to ‘purchase’ with their points. If a student brings a snack for the whole class to share, they will be awarded 5 classdojo points as a ‘thank you’ for contributing/sharing.
- Communicate progress with teachers and parents
- Collect/report IEP goal data
- Facilitate IEP meetings
- Write new IEPs and make changes to current IEP if needed
- Work with content teachers to make modifications and accommodations
- Provide guidance, coaching, tutoring, and extra support to students during academic intervention classes on goals and content area assignments/tests
- Meetings will be held in the spring to help students/parents transition to the high school. You will be able to meet your next year’s case manager, discuss perspective course selection and answer any questions you may have. You will also have your annual IEP. This transition meeting is a separate meeting available upon request. I will send out an email with available times when the time approaches.
